Pete J. Alford was born December 16, 1911 to the late Layfayette and Jennie V. Alford in Castle, Oklahoma.
Pete grew up in Clearview, Oklahoma where he attended Clearview schools. He was baptized at an early age and joined Norfork Baptist Church.
He later moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he met and married Vera Williams and to this union five children were born. One son preceded him in death. Pete joined the Church of the Living God, where he attended until his health began to fail.
He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, Wife: Vera Alford; three Sons; Wayne K. Alford, Mervin G. Alford, and Roy T. Alford, all of Wichita, Kansas; four Daughters: Jennie V. Alford-Ray, Cherry A. Alford-Davison, both of Wichita, Kansas, Katherine Rhodes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Marcella Clark of Tempe, Arizona; two Sisters: Ruby Anderson of Weleeka, Oklahoma, and Arbella Lyons of Los Angeles, California; four Sister-in-Laws: Mary Todd of Wichita, Kansas, Samel Lowe and Charlene Williams of Pittsburg, California, and Jerlene Dozier of Oakland, California; one Brother-in-Law: John Wilber Williams of Oakland, California; 32 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
Memorial services were held at the Church of The Living God in Wichita, Kansas, officiated by Elder Charles Maxey, Jr., Pastor.
Pete is the son of Lafayette "Fate" Alford.
