Mourning Osieal O. Lyons
Sunrise January 1, 1941 ~ Sunset December 8, 2023
It is with overwhelming sadness that we share news of the passing of Osieal O. Lyons. Osie passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2023, in his Compton home. He was 82 years old.
Osie was a man of devout faith. He was baptized at a young age and spent his life serving and working in the church. We have great comfort in knowing he is now sitting alongside his heavenly Father.
Osie was committed to his family and community. He had tremendous love for his entire family, but his pride and joy came from his wife, three children and seven grandchildren.
Osie grew up and attended Compton area schools, graduating from Centennial High School in 1960. He worked professionally as a foreman at Kwik Set Lock and Key until his retirement.
A master of many things, Osie found tremendous joy in blessing others. His warm personality and calm spirit drew others to him. A consummate lover of music, he enjoyed listening to music and playing guitar. He was a pillar at God’s Covenant Church where he enjoyed playing guitar and spending time with his church family. A father to the fatherless, he frequently purchased and assembled bikes for neighborhood kids. Always working with his hands, he could often be found repairing, building and tinkering in his garage.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arbella Alford-Lyons, father, Cleo Lyons and sister, Betty Jewel Lyons.
Cherishing his memory are his wife, Dorothy Curtis-Lyons; sons, Todd and Kevin (Sahara); daughter, Lisa; grandchildren, Phillip, Jose, Leila, Tyler, Xavier, Riley, and Miley; great-grandson, Kayden Brown; cherished niece Arbella “Precious” Madden; great-nieces, Amia and Amiya Harris; and a host of family and friends.
