SHARON'S OBITUARY
Sharon Kay Alford of Cypress, TX, age 79, passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2020 due to complications from lung cancer. Sharon was born in Omaha, NE on August 9, 1941 to James “Jimmie” Seay and Rosie (Pettigrew) Seay. She was the youngest of eight siblings and loved telling stories about growing up in a large family.
Sharon’s magnetic personality made her a favorite among everyone she encountered. She attended Central High School in Omaha, NE and retired from her career as a successful executive after over two decades of service supervising the Accounts Payable and Payroll departments for the Coca Cola Foods Division in Houston. Sharon was the mother of two beautiful daughters, Kim Goodwin and Nathalie Goodwin (preceded in death). Sharon was a dedicated mother, loving wife, and fervent believer. Sharon was baptized March 28, 1987, joining in the congregation of Jehovah’s witnesses. She is remembered by those in her congregation as actively volunteering her time to preach and teach others about her beliefs as a pioneer in the Northwest Congregation Kingdom Hall in Houston, TX.
On February 28, 1981 Sharon married her devoted husband Scoby “Ricky” Alford. The couple was married for almost 40 years. They were inseparable and enjoyed travelling and serving Jehovah together -- and Ricky was by her side when she departed this life.
In addition to her desire to preach and travel with her husband, many remember Sharon for her fashion sense and entrepreneurial spirit. She was bold, loving and a problem solver, often using her own experiences to help others reason through their life’s problems.
Sharon is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Nathalie Goodwin, ex-husband Nathaniel Goodwin, siblings Thelbert Seay; Claudia Draper, Corrine White and Louise Borders. Sharon is survived by her husband, Scoby “Rick” Alford; her eldest daughter Kim Goodwin (m. Jose Figueroa of San Juan, PR); her sisters Veola Seay Dryver, Jean Seay Rogers and Beverly Seay Johnson (Omaha, NE). She leaves behind a host of loving brothers-in law, sisters in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous family members and long-time friends.
In accordance with Sharon’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Instead, her congregation, and family will respectively hold virtual memorial service and a celebration of life in her honor. Klein Funeral Home will handle Sharon’s cremation. You are invited to sign their guestbook at www.kleinfh.com.
Sharon is the wife of Scoby “Rick” Alford, II; Rick Alford is the son of Pearl & Scoby Alford, Sr.; and Grandson of Lafayette “Fate” Alford.
