Mourning Edward Lee Alford, Jr. ("Ace")
December 10, 1957 – March 8, 2023
Our family has lost another treasured member, Edward Lee Alford, Jr. (“Ace”).
March 8, 2023 Ace peacefully entered eternal rest at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 65.
He was born December 10, 1957, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Edward Lee Alford, Sr. and Lee Ann (Smith) Alford. He was the fourth of eight siblings. He graduated in 1976 from Wewoka High School and attended Seminole State College and Langston University on basketball scholarships.
Ace was a devoted and avid Wewoka Tiger and OSU Cowboy fan. He lived and bled the orange and black. He enjoyed going to casinos, playing dominos and cards, listening to music (old school R&B). Stephanie Mills and Earth, Wind and Fire were his favorites.
Ace considered himself a jack of all trades. However, his passion was roofing/contracting. He was part of owner of A&R Roofing Company, a company his Dad started, for many years.
He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted parents; sister Sharon Annette Alford-Bruner; grandparents George and Bernice Alford; Hollis Earl Smith and Myrtle Webster-Wilson; Niece, Dionisia R. Bruner. Nephews, Carlos A. Duke, Brylon Edward Carr and Hunter Edward Carr.
Ace leaves to cherish the memories of his life, one son and daughter-in-law , Edward Lee Alford, III & Stephanie Alford; 5 Grandchildren: Shy’enne Denise Miller, Evan Lee Alford, Ethan Ramond Lee Alford, Vanessa Marie Alford, and Jasmin Delois Lee Ann Alford. 2 Great Grandchildren, Araiyah and Hayden Oages. Four Brothers: Earl L. Alford (Rena); Gary L. Alford; Brent L. Alford; G. Ray Alford (Tracey); Two loving and devoted sisters: Gloria Alford-Carr and Montria ("DeeDee") Alford. Uncles: Dr. T. J. Roberts and Willie (Jo Ann). Aunts: Violet Patterson and Merdine Black.
Edward, Jr. is the son of Edward Lee Alford, Sr. and LeeAnn (Smith) Alford. Grandson of George & Bernice Alford; Great Grandson of Wesley Dow Alford (Emily) and Annie Cyrus-Gordon (Henry); Great Great Grandson of Matthew Solomon Alford & Lucy Berry; and Great Great Great Grandson of Solomon & Lussie Alford.
